SUP Yoga is an amazing combination of Yoga and Stand Up Paddling).
Obviously I love yoga and I love water, so SUP Yoga for me is a like heaven on earth.
Regular yoga poses become more challenging, you get to enjoy nature and breath deeply as well as strengthen your whole body and especially your core.
On the board you have to maintain balance and move with more awareness. At the same time its suitable for all levels and ages.
In the middle of the somewhat hectic city life an hour on the SUP board is like a mini vacation on the board.
Which board to use:
There are special SUP yoga boards which are a little wider and have a slip-free surface, so you have enough space for your practice, it is easier to balance and you don't slip off.
SUP Yoga Poses:
Many poses which seem easy on your mat are not as easy anymore as you take them onto the water. A normal side plank becomes a challenging balance act and is fun to play with.
In my SUP Yoga Classes I like to create a flowing practice of different asanas that I hold for a longer time.
My favorite yoga pose these days on the board: Shoulderstand - it's so peaceful and the view is somehow amazing: sky, trees, water, nature.
How to start SUP Yoga:
You can book a SUP Yoga class at many Sup board clubs and stations.
Also yoga centers, gyms and many yoga teachers offer SUP yoga classes these days.
If you are in Hamburg, Ibiza or Goa you can contact me for SUP Yoga Workshops.
Thank you to Barbara Fontana for spending a great day on the board.
Life is a beach.
so much love, Nicole
